Control OBS Source Visibility with a MIDI Trigger

OBS source visibility is one of those features that becomes more useful the moment you stop thinking of it as a checkbox.

Showing or hiding a source can change what the viewer sees without changing the entire scene.

That can be powerful for creators who use overlays, camera angles, charts, images, captions, lesson prompts, notation examples, backing-track displays, or screen captures.

But controlling source visibility manually can interrupt the content.

If you have to reach for the keyboard or mouse every time you want to show or hide something, the production control starts working against the creative flow.

Stopping to find the mouse, click a source, or use a keyboard shortcut can break the content flow.

A MIDI trigger can come from many types of devices:

That MIDI event can be mapped to a production action.

Why not just use OBS hotkeys?

But hotkeys still depend on keyboard access, key combinations, focus behavior, and sometimes additional tools if MIDI is involved.
